Ingrid Johnson is the mother of a survivor and advocate for human trafficking victims who has worked with the Newark and New Jersey Coalitions Against Human Trafficking. She has been featured in numerous articles and appeared on the Dr. Phil show, as well as in a news special, titled "Against Their Will.” In 2010, Johnson joined U.S. Rep. Chris Smith on the steps of the State House in Trenton to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the Trafficking Victims Protection Act. In2013, she spoke before the New Jersey senate to advocate for legislation to support laws and services to assist victims of Human Trafficking. She encourages others to join her in influencing change that meets the needs of vulnerable people.
Johnson currently serves as the Manager of Bed Management and Patient Access at Overlook Medical Center (a member of Atlantic Health System). Her prior experience includes work as a registered nurse at Saint Michael's Emergency Department, Neuro Surgical ICU at UMDNJ and a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner in Essex County. She holds a Bachelors in Nursing and Masters in Health System Administration from Seton Hall University. ln addition, she was inducted into the Seton Hall chapter of Sigma Theta Tau and Golden Key lnternational Honour Society. Seton Hall has honored her with the Elizabeth Ann Seton Young Alumna, Health System Administration, Sara M. Errickson and Humanitarian awards.
Johnson is a member of the Organization of Nurse Executives of New Jersey and the Healthcare Financial Management Association. She has previously served as a board member for Communities in Cooperation, a human services organization connecting communities to services to strengthen families and individuals. Johnson also served as a program board member for Nancy's place a housing program for Covenant House New Jersey providing support to homeless youth with mental health needs.
